Statistics¶
An overview of the whole library. Open it from "Statistics…" at the bottom of the Sidebar.
It recalculates every time it opens, but only from the database (no file scanning), so it appears instantly.
What is shown¶
Summary¶
| Item | Contents |
|---|---|
| Items | Total count, excluding the Trash |
| Total size | Total size of the actual files, excluding the Trash |
| Tags | Number of tags (and tag groups) |
| Favorites | Number of starred items |
By kind¶
Counts and sizes for notes / images / videos / documents / other, sorted by count.
This is where you learn what is eating your library's disk space.
Updates (last 12 months)¶
A bar chart of monthly counts based on file modification time (the last 12 months including this one).
Months without updates show as zero. Trash items are excluded.
The basis is the modified date
Items are counted by their last-modified time (modified_at), not by when they were imported. Importing a batch of old files distributes them across their original modification months, not the import month.
With the EXIF capture-time setting (Settings) turned on, photos count toward the month they were taken.
Most used tags¶
Up to 10 of the most used tags as horizontal bars, with their group color dots.
Other¶
| Item | Contents |
|---|---|
| Untagged | Items with no tags at all |
| With location | Items that have coordinates |
| Item links | Number of links |
| Trash | Count and size inside the Trash |
| Database | File size of melanite.db |
What it's good for¶
- Check the untagged count to see whether organizing is keeping up
- Check sizes in by kind to decide when to prune videos and other large items
- Check the Trash size to decide when to empty it
- Watch the updates chart to see the library's activity over time
